sullivan's new hat.... watch the process!

step one...so the goal was to make an image of Sullivan's head by using a laser...they had to put this stocking on his head (which he didn't mind at all and he kind of liked licking it!) to smooth out his hair for a perfect image...

step two...the tech held him up for the image to be created and processed...

let's just say after several tries he just couldn't sit still long enough so we had to do it the old school way...they had to literally make a cast of his head...yes, like a cast of your arm or leg...OLD SCHOOL!

this was after they took the cast off of his head... i will spare you that photo as it traumatizes me every time I look at it... here is the image while he was still covered in all the paste...poor little guy. He was SO brave!

we got to give him a bath in the casting room after they finished... he loved this part
here is the actual cast they made... the shape of his head is on the inside...they send it away and that is how they make the custom "hat"

oh what a honey... he loves his hat ... he just doesn't like the Velcro sound when we take it off... Sullivan wears his hat about 23 hours a day...we take it off for our eight sessions of stretches for his torticollis...to eat....AND for bath time... its not so bad...we promise!
